The capital and gateway to the island

Discover

Visiting Antananarivo

Visiting Antananarivo is the natural start of a trip to Madagascar. Spread over the hills of the Highlands, the capital, known to everyone as Tana, is home to Ivato international airport and to the Madevasion team. Give it a day or two: the Rova, the Queen’s palace, the old upper town and the sacred hill of Ambohimanga, a UNESCO World Heritage site, explain the island’s history. Markets such as Analakely and La Digue are the place for crafts, and Tana is the starting point of our signature tours to the East, the West and the South. A local driver meets you at Ivato and handles the dense city traffic.
